INT. ROOM OF POTENTIALS (MATRIX) - DAY

As they enter the Oracle's apartment, you see a rack of collectable spoons on the wall.

The music playing in the background is _I'm Beginning to See the Light by Duke Ellington.

Neo enters and finally understands the attention given to his age. The Potentials are all little children.

The room feels at once like a Buddhist temple and a kindergarten class. The children's heads are either shaved or thick with dreadlocks. Some are playing, others meditating or practicing their gift.

Neo watches a little girl levitate wooden alphabet blocks. A skinny BOY holds a SPOON which sways like a blade of grass as he bends it with his mind.

Neo crosses to him, sits.

The Boy smiles as Neo picks up a spoon and tries to imitate him. Despite his best efforts, Neo cannot make it bend.

Fast forward to the scene where Morpheus is talking to Neo on the phone in Neo's appartment, and Morpheus says "This line is tapped, so I must be brief." As Morpheus is speaking, immediately pause the movie as you observe the camera focusing in on Neo's desk. Look at the the small package on Neo's desk. Notice that the writing on the label on the left side of the package says "Oscar Wachowski."

Cypher says, "I wanna be rich, you know, someone important. Like an actor." Ronald Reagan was an actor before he was President. Cypher wishes to live a life of material decadence. Ronald Reagan presided over an era remembered for decadence, greed, and deceit.

In the Oracle's waiting room, the television is showing _Night of the Lepus_ (1972). "Lepus" means rabbit in Latin and also the movie has references to "follow the white rabbit".

Coincidentally (or not), Matrix, Trinity, Morpheus, 303 and 101 are all models of music synthesizer (from various manufacturers).

All of the good guys (Morpheus, Trinty, Neo, etc.) in the movie wear round or oval sunglasses. All of the bad guys (the agents, Cypher) wear square or rectangular sunglasses.

Nebuchadnezzar was a biblical Babylonian king who was instructed by god in dreams to destroy the inhabitants of Jerusalem because they worshipped false prophets.

When Switch says to Neo, "We don't have time for 20 questions," Neo had just asked approximately his 20th question so far in the movie.

Check out the room numbers for Trinity and Neo. When the cops bust in on Trinity in the opening scene the number is 303 ("trinity," 3) and since Neo is The One the number of his apartment is 101.
